How Does Diamond Resorts Work?
There's a lot to know before you purchase a Diamond Resorts timeshare resale. Browse frequently asked questions below.
If you are buying retail, in order to have a Diamond resort as your home resort, you must become an owner with Hilton. However, those who were Diamond owners before Diamond was bought by Hilton enjoy a limited portfolio of resorts from Diamond and Bluegreen that they may use their points at; this is referred to as Hilton Vacation Club. Buying a Diamond ownership on the resale market will make you a part of Hilton Vacation Club. See “How does HGV Max work?” for more details.
Since its acquisition, anyone who would like to visit Diamond Resorts as an owner must become an HGV owner. The average purchase price of a Hilton Grand Vacations membership is $22,000 when you buy from the developer. This does not include closing costs, annual dues, and yearly maintenance fees. However, when you buy from the secondary market, you can save thousands on your ownership! So, whether you’re looking to become a new Member or simply add to your existing ownership, the resale market is a great way to save money on a lifetime of travel.
Like other points-based vacation clubs, when you become an HGV owner, you purchase an annual allotment of ClubPoints that are used to book vacations. Reserve week-long getaways or last-minute weekend retreats as you please. Points are renewed yearly, and you can use, save, or borrow points from future years. How many points you need depends on how often you travel, where you want to travel, and for how long. Owners can also convert their points to Hilton Honors points to book stays at over 7,200 resorts and hotels around the world, as well as flights and car rentals. Moreover, ClubPoints can be exchanged with RCI for even more vacation options.
First, in order for a current Diamond owner to stay at Hilton resorts outside the HVC portfolio, they must upgrade to HGV Max. Similarly, if an exisiting Hilton owner would like to visit Diamond resorts, they must upgrade to HGV Max.
HGV Max is available to owners and features six different levels of membership: Member, Preferred, Preferred+, Premier, Premier+, and Centum+. Each level offers a wide range of benefits, yet all allow you to use your ClubPoints to customize your vacations. Access vacation experiences, such as cruises, yacht charters, tours, and more. You can also convert your ClubPoints to Hilton Honors points and save on reservations. What’s more, HGV Max members can enjoy a six-month reservation window, as well as priority access to accommodations.
